Alex Nackman
New York based singer/songwriter/guitarist writes a mix of jazz, pop,
and rock music with earnest lyrics and euphoric "stuck-in-your-head" melodies.
His style is acoustically driven, rhythmic, smooth, and clean. Alex’s songs
focus on love, relationships, and the challenges of life “with lyrics that
betray the fact that Nackman himself is only 19 years old” (Peter Baker of
Pennsylvania’s Fly Magazine). Alex’s skills as a songwriter have brought forth positive reviews, as he has
already landed shows at several top New York City music spaces, such as CBGB’s
313 Gallery, the Acme Underground, Le Bar Bat, and The C-Note to name a few, all
with enthusiastic invitations to perform a second time. Alex has shared the
stage with Philadelphia’s own, Townhall as well as fellow New York native, Ari
Hest, during the 2003 Spring Arts Festival at Franklin & Marshall College in
Lancaster, PA. This past summer (2003), Alex also opened for the New Jersey band
Granian in New York.
Alex draws influence from Howie Day, Dave Matthews, Ben Folds, and Coldplay.

jimmy can't dance (J.C.D.), the Pacific Northwest's latest addition to
the independent hard rock scene, recently released its first CD "Shaving the
porcupine." The CD reveals the band's hardcore musical influences like MSG, The
Cult and half a dozen Southern Rock bands. J.C.D. has been writing rock music
and slowly recording it over the past 4 years. Figuring they would never be
signed by a major label due to their heavy regressive/progressive style of
music, the band decided to create their own record label (Proactive
Communications) and began recording "Shaving the Porcupine."
"The title of the album says it all," notes guitarist/vocalist/songwriter
Stewart Millager. "Every step of this process has been painful." J.C.D. plans to
go back in the studio for its second album in mid-August of 2003. "I think the
second album will be much more intense than 'Shaving' is. Now we can spend more
time recording music spontaneously rather than messing around with the
engineering and production of the product," says Millager.The CD is on sale on
