MUZN: How do you approach songwriting and What influences you?
I get my songwriting influences from everywhere. I carry a notebook around with me all the time. Anything I see or hear I jot down and then try to expand on the original notes. For example, if I'm on a train I'll look at all the poster ads and observe other passengers and write down my impressions. Then, to push my creativity I try and take these disparate ideas and blend them into a single song idea. I also songwrite with a co-lyricist and poet and she will often given me written story ideas that I'll work into lyrics and melody. Song ideas are everywhere. You just have to stay aware of them and get in the discipline of putting them in a journal.

MUZN: Do you have a visual image in your mind as the song is composed, or does that come
afterwards as a result of the song?
It can work both ways. Sometimes a songwriting idea comes to me as a visualized thought, sort of a conscious dream that leaves an imprint from which I start to write. At other times, I have a vague emotion that I experiment with musically on the guitar or piano.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN: What's your philosophy on music today?
I don't have a philosophy specific to music today. I believe that all styles of music are credible forms of self-expression and that each has its personal and professional place. When I think "philosophy" I think more about the individual artist and how each person's life view is translated into a particular musical medium. Songs are the paths from our innermost feelings to the feelings of others. A song is a unique communication from what the songwriter feels to how those feelings are experienced differently by each listener.

MUZN: Tell us about you, when did you begin writing songs ?
I began writing songs in college. I was performing on the coffee house circuit at a time when singer-songwriters were quite in vogue. It gave me an excellent opportunity to begin experimenting.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN: How many projects are you currently involved in?
I am involved in quite a few musical projects right now as a songwriter, artist and producer. I embrace the different roles since I can look at each song from a particular creative angle, not necessarily just mine.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
What's your long-term goal?
To keep writing and producing and to work with as many new, emerging artists as I can to help develop their musical talents. Having my own record lable gives me a lot of opportunities to do this.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
How did you get into music?
Actually, I didn't get into music. It seems it was always inside me!
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
How long have you been performing?
Since I was in high school. I did the high school band thing then when I got to college I did the solo singer-songwriter route performing a lot in New York City.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
What other artists do you admire? And what bands\artists inspired you the
most early on?
My earliest influences were Paul Simon, Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. Today I most admire Tom Petty and John Hiatt.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
What do you want out of life?
A passion for living, being close to the ones I love and music.
-------------------------------------------------------------
MUZN:
What is the most important lesson you think you have learned so far?
That the only true happiness is that which comes from within.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Perpetually in childhood and responsibly in adulthood.
